How to Customize RGB Lighting via RK Launcher: A Step-by-Step Guide
Introduction
Most RK keyboards come with 18 dynamic preset backlight modes. You can easily switch between them using the standard “Fn + \” shortcuts. On screen-enabled models like the S98 and S104, lighting effects can also be adjusted directly through the built-in display. For deeper customization, the RK Launcher allows you to remap and personalize these lighting controls to fit your setup.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to set up both keyboard backlight effects and per-key RGB customization in RK Launcher, so you can get the most out of your lighting setup.

How to Set Keyboard Backlight in RK Launcher?
Getting your RGB keyboard lighting set up only takes a few minutes. Just follow these simple steps.
Step 1: Confirm compatibility
Before you start, make sure your keyboard supports RGB lighting and the RK web driver. Most RK keyboards are compatible, with a few older models being limited.
You can check compatibility on the official software download page or contact support if you’re unsure.
For example, the RK61 only supports single-color backlighting and does not support the RK web driver, so RGB effects and software customization are not available on this model.
Step 2: Open RK Web Driver
Use the latest version of Chrome, Opera, or Edge browser, then click here to open the launcher.
Step 3: Connect your keyboard

Switch your keyboard to wired mode and plug it in using the RK cable. In the RK software, click “Select Device”, then choose your keyboard from the pop-up in the top-left corner.
If your device doesn’t show up, it’s usually because the keyboard is still in wireless mode.
Step 4: Enter Light Mode

Click “Light Mode” on the left panel to access all RGB keyboard lighting settings.
Step 5: Choose and adjust your lighting

Pick a lighting mode and start customizing your setup—brightness, speed, sleep time, and color mixing are all adjustable.
If you’re not sure where to start, our team and most users usually go with "Rainbow Wheel" for a smooth full-spectrum RGB effect, or "Neon Stream" for a more dynamic flowing look. Both are great options for showing off your RGB keyboard lighting setup without overthinking it.
How to Set Per-Key RGB in RK Launcher?
Most RK keyboards also support per-key RGB customization, allowing you to control each key individually and create fully personalized lighting layouts. Here’s how to set it up:
Step 1: Enable Self-Define mode

Go to Light Mode, select “SelfDefine”, and turn on the feature switch to enable per-key customization.
Step 2: Customize your keys

Click any key on the on-screen keyboard to assign a color. Selected keys will immediately update to your chosen color.
You can also select multiple keys and apply the same color at once. All changes are saved automatically.
Step 3: Reset anytime

If you want to start over, click “One Click Restore Default” to clear all custom settings and return to default lighting.
