First, in my opinion, this keyboard is not bad, but it’s also not great.
For €90, the Hall Effect switches work well, but I have to say they don’t sound very good. The layout is great, and the case feels solid. The scroll wheel feels okay, but it could definitely be better.
The mute button feels very cheap, and the clicking feedback from the keycaps is not very satisfying either, although it’s not awful.
There are a lot of keyboards, like Epomaker, in the same price category — or even cheaper that still feel and sound much better.
Because of that, I think this keyboard is a bit overpriced for what it offers. The Hall Effect switches are a nice feature, but the overall typing experience and build quality don’t fully justify the €90 price tag.
Happy with the quality of the keyboard. However, its a left hander keyboard. Very inconvienent for me. While i understand the mystery box meant we cannot dictate what is it, i am disappointed as i doubt any left hander will go for mystery box. And now i have to shop for another keyboard.
Bought it to put in some silent switches but fell in love with the red ones this came with. Great keyboard
I got the silent switches, and the keyboard sounds really nice. My one complaint is that you put the num pad on the left, but did not put a backspace near it, so I have to go across the keyboard to delete. It's not a deal breaker, and I can just rebind the calculator button, really. I just think it's a little weird you didn't really think of that.
Other than that complaint, I really have no other issues with it so far. I love the different connection options, and I like the extra USB slot!
I've been a fan of keychron but let me tell you, when I discovered RK, I was in love. The linear cream switches are amazing, the build quality is great, and I love little touches like changing the image on the LCD. This time I went with linear silent, and it has the same nice feel but just a bit quieter. I now have 3 RK keyboards :)
Everything works well, the RKS104 has all that you need for gaming and a nice sound to its typing. The color template is great. The only downside is everytime the bluetooth connects timesout, reconnecting takes 10 seconds to reconnect.
I would give it 5 stars but the RK plate in the top right which is a functional button was never glued to the actual keyboard. Though the customer service was really good about helping me through it all. All my co-workers say they love the sound of the keyboard.
I would give more stars, but the software on the website is a disaster, it should be available as an app.
I received an RK96 in Forest Green with the magnetic wrist rest. On this edition of the mystery box, I would have been pleased with 3 out of the 6 possible 75% sized keyboards. As luck would have it, I ended up getting one of the other 3 that I was trying to avoid. However, just because I didn't get the keyboard I wanted, does not mean I can't say great things about the RK96. I've given it a trial, and it's a solid keyboard with clicky keys (if you're into that) and the RGB lighting shines real nice. I also think the 2 USB-A pass-through ports integrated into the keyboard are cool. The only thing that's taken some adjustment is the number pad with a regular size 0 key instead of a wide one. Also the little dial to turn the volume up/down is a nice touch, but I find it's not sensitive enough if you try to scroll it too fast.
I recently fell into the rabbit hole of mechanical keyboards. I was specifically looking for something with silent switches and was about to purchase another RK keyboard when they introduced this one. The double-shot PBT keycaps feel really good, and they're matted so you get a nice textured key. It's not a feature I was looking for on purpose but it's one I learned I really enjoyed. The knob to control the volume is also a nice feature because it's always in reach if you're using a mouse with your right hand. The silent switches provide a nice muted, thocky sound, nothing clacky or overly creamy which is what I was trying to avoid. Overall I'm glad I picked this for my 1st keyboard.
the keyboard is amazing for gaming or design work... possibility to modify bindings are endless! battery it was 100% for 2 and half month just WOW!
Great keyboard, its quite light so easy for mobile use as well
Great computer, the M keys are super nice and useful, I use mine for linux commands that I use a lot. Keyboard is a little squeaky in certain places but that seems to be a non issue after adding lube
What else do I need to say? I bought the southpaw to use for CAD modeling. I no longer have to take my hand off the mouse to punch in numbers.
The Royal Kludge C98 HE is a solid budget entry into the hall effect keyboard space. At around $90 for an 1800-layout hall effect board, it offers a lot of functionality for the price, especially if you are looking for something inexpensive with rapid trigger-style gaming features and a decent web-based driver.
The ABS case construction feels good for the price, and the aluminum plate makes sense here because it helps keep everything properly aligned for the magnetic sensors to perform consistently. The board also supports most Wooting-compatible magnetic switches, which is a nice bonus if you want to experiment or upgrade later.
That said, the stock switches are not my favorite. They remind me a lot of the older Akko Glare switches from Akko’s early hall effect boards, right down to the color and the sound profile. They work well, but they do not sound especially good, and the board itself has a somewhat hollow tone out of the box. This is not the keyboard I would pick if sound is your top priority.
But as a budget hall effect keyboard, the C98 HE makes a lot of sense. You get an 1800 layout, hall effect functionality, a usable web driver, decent build quality, and future switch compatibility at a very approachable price. It is not perfect, but for the money, it is a genuinely compelling option.
Was looking for a more compact keyboard from the ol' Corsair Vengeance K95 I'd been running for several years. The arrow keys being next to the Enter/R. Shift/Ctrl keys is taking some getting used to, but that's expected.
While I didn't use the 10-keys, I wasn't ready to part with them yet - one of those 'have it and not need it, or need it and not have it, scenarios. I have been trying to use them more often as the chance comes, though.
Ich finde die Tastatur mega toll macht alles was sie soll.
